Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about FairTalk and how AI mediation works.
Is AI mediation the same as AI therapy?
No. AI mediation is focused specifically on structured conflict resolution between two or more parties. It is not designed to address mental health conditions, provide emotional support as an ongoing relationship, or replicate the therapeutic relationship that forms with a human clinician. If you are dealing with a mental health issue that is contributing to conflict in your life, a psychologist or counsellor is the appropriate starting point.
Can AI mediation be used for legal disputes?
AI mediation can be useful for interpersonal disputes that have a legal dimension, such as co-parenting disagreements or neighbour disputes, by helping parties reach an informal resolution before the situation escalates to legal proceedings. For disputes that are already in a legal process or where the outcome needs to be legally enforceable, you should work with a qualified mediator or legal professional.
How is my data protected during an AI mediation session?
FairTalk does not share session content with third parties, employers, courts, or any other external parties. Users can delete their session data at any time within the app. See our privacy policy for full details.
What if one party refuses to participate?
AI mediation works best when both parties engage voluntarily. FairTalk allows one party to invite another to a session. Both parties must consent before the session begins. Forced participation rarely produces genuine resolution.
Is AI mediation suitable for serious relationship problems?
It depends on the nature of the problem. AI mediation is well suited to communication breakdowns, recurring arguments, and disputes over specific issues. For deeper relationship difficulties, such as rebuilding trust after betrayal or navigating the decision to separate, a couples therapist with relevant clinical training is likely a more appropriate resource. The two are not mutually exclusive: many people use structured tools like FairTalk for day to day conflict while also engaging with a therapist for longer term relational work.
