Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 2026

FairTalk is currently in pre-launch. This policy covers data collected via the waitlist and website. A full policy covering the app will be published prior to launch.

Our commitment in plain English: we do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. Your conversations stay private. Audio is deleted the moment transcription is complete.

1. Who we are

FairTalk is operated by FairTalk Pty Ltd, based in Western Australia. We are committed to complying with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

Contact: contact@fairtalk.com.au

2. What we collect

  • Account information: name, email address, password (stored encrypted)
  • Waitlist: email address only
  • Session data: audio recordings (deleted immediately after transcription), transcripts, and AI-generated summaries
  • Usage data: app usage patterns, device type, and browser information
  • Payment data: handled entirely by Stripe. We do not store card details.

3. How we use your information

  • To provide and improve the FairTalk service
  • To send you important service updates and notifications you have opted into
  • To contact waitlist members when FairTalk launches
  • To process payments securely via Stripe
  • To comply with legal obligations

We do not use your data for advertising. We do not sell or share your data with third parties for their own purposes.

4. Audio and transcripts

Each session is recorded as an audio file. After the session, that audio file is securely transmitted to our transcription provider for processing, and it is not transcribed in real time during the conversation. Audio files are processed solely for transcription and are permanently deleted from our servers once transcription is complete.

Transcription and the resulting analysis take place after the session, not live. Transcripts are not viewable within the application and are deleted once the AI analysis has been produced. What is retained is the analysis and resolution plan for that session, accessible only to its participants.

We use Deepgram for transcription. The audio file is transmitted securely to Deepgram's API under their data processing agreement and is not used to train their models.

5. Data storage and security

All data is stored on Australian servers. We use industry standard encryption for data in transit (TLS) and at rest. In the event of a data breach likely to result in serious harm, we will notify affected individuals and the OAIC as required by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

6. Data retention

  • Audio: deleted immediately after transcription
  • Transcripts: deleted once the AI analysis has been produced
  • Analyses and resolution plans: retained while your account is active. All data is deleted within 30 days of account deletion.
  • Account data: retained for 7 years for legal compliance, then permanently deleted
  • Waitlist emails: retained until launch or until you unsubscribe

7. Your rights

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your account and all personal data
  • Opt out of marketing communications at any time
  • Lodge a complaint with the OAIC if you believe your privacy rights have been breached

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at contact@fairtalk.com.au.

8. Third party services

  • Supabase: database and authentication (data stored in Australia)
  • Deepgram: speech-to-text transcription
  • AI analysis provider: session analysis is performed by a third party AI provider under a data processing agreement. The specific provider will be confirmed in the full policy published prior to launch.
